Dark Jazz-concerten en liveshows in Athene

Originating from the late 20th-century intersection of cool jazz and ambient music, dark jazz is a niche subgenre that emphasizes a somber, cinematic atmosphere reminiscent of classical film noir soundtracks. The typical instrumentation relies on minimal, brushed percussion, deep upright bass, and mournful woodwinds like the tenor saxophone, which are often layered with subtle electronic drones or reverb-drenched piano chords. Its rhythmic structure is characterized by exceptionally slow, down-tempo movements and spacious, minimalist arrangements that prioritize evocative mood over virtuosic technical display. Emotionally, the genre conveys a nocturnal, melancholic, and mysterious feeling, serving as a primary stylistic bridge between traditional jazz improvisation and the dense textural soundscapes found in dark ambient or drone music.
