Cantautor-events in Barcelona

The cantautor genre emerged during the mid-20th century across Spain and Latin America as a vehicle for poetic and often socially conscious expression, deeply rooted in the troubadour tradition. Typical instrumentation is minimalist, primarily featuring the acoustic guitar or piano to ensure the lyrical content remains the focal point of the performance. Rhythmic structures are generally fluid or folk-derived, maintaining moderate to slow tempos that allow for intimate, introspective, and emotionally resonant vocal delivery. Closely related to the broader singer-songwriter movement, it emphasizes the artist's dual role as both the primary composer and performer of their original material, bridging the gap between traditional folk and contemporary pop.
