Power Pop-events deze maand in Barcelona

Power pop emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s as a melodic offshoot of rock and roll, drawing inspiration from British Invasion bands like The Beatles and The Who. The genre is characterized by a reliance on chiming guitars, strong vocal harmonies, and compact song structures that prioritize infectious hooks over extended improvisation. Typically performed with a standard rock quartet instrumentation, its tempo is generally upbeat, conveying a bright, energetic mood that balances youthful exuberance with occasional melancholic undertones. As a stylistic bridge, power pop merges the melodic sensibilities of classic pop with the aggressive energy of punk and hard rock, maintaining a polished yet punchy sonic profile.
