Vocal Jazz-events deze maand in Barcelona

Vocal jazz emerged in the early 20th century as singers began applying improvisational techniques and blues-inflected phrasing to the Great American Songbook and popular standards. Typically centered on the human voice as a primary melodic instrument, it often utilizes accompaniment from a piano trio, solo guitar, or a full-sized big band. The genre is characterized by swung rhythms, sophisticated harmonic structures, and a frequent use of scat singing, allowing for deep emotional expression and rhythmic flexibility. Emotionally, it spans from the intimate and melancholic atmosphere of torch songs to the vibrant, high-energy mood of swing-era showstoppers. It maintains a close semantic relationship with traditional pop and blues while serving as a foundational pillar for modern contemporary jazz.
