Italian Folk-events deze maand in Berlin

Italian folk music, or musica popolare, encompasses diverse regional traditions originating from the peninsula's rich agrarian and maritime history. It utilizes a vibrant array of acoustic instruments, most notably the organetto, mandolin, and zampogna, often underpinned by rhythmic foundations like the frantic 6/8 meter of the tarantella or the steady stomp of the saltarello. The mood shifts fluidly between celebratory communal energy and the poignant melancholy found in narrative ballads and historical work songs. Historically, these localized styles served as the vernacular precursor to the modern Italian songbook, maintaining a distinct cultural identity through dialect-heavy lyrics and an authentic oral transmission that persists across generations.
