Mexican Rock-events deze maand in Berlin

Mexican rock, or rock mexicano, emerged in the mid-1950s as a localized adaptation of American rock and roll, quickly evolving from simple Spanish-language covers to sophisticated original compositions. The genre typically features a standard rock lineup of electric guitars, bass, and drums, frequently incorporating Latin percussion and brass arrangements to reflect regional heritage. Musically, it spans a broad spectrum from high-energy punk and heavy metal to more melodic alternative rock, characterized by syncopated rhythms and diverse tempos that mirror the country's social shifts. While inherently rebellious and often socially conscious, it maintains a strong semantic link to the broader Rock en Español movement, bridging underground grit with mainstream pop-rock appeal.
