Minimal Dub-events in Berlin

Minimal Dub, often referred to as Microdub, emerged from the intersection of Jamaican dub aesthetics and the precision of 1990s German electronic music, specifically the Basic Channel sound. It is characterized by a stripped-back, spacious arrangement that emphasizes deep, sub-frequency basslines, rhythmic delays, and reverb-soaked chords over a steady, four-to-the-floor beat. The mood is typically hypnotic, immersive, and meditative, often employing digital textures to create a sense of vast sonic space. While it shares the echo-centric philosophy of traditional dub, it strips away the melodic excess of reggae, resulting in a cerebral, atmospheric evolution that bridges the gap between dub and minimalist techno.
