Quiet Storm-events in Berlin

Emerging in the mid-1970s, Quiet Storm is a sophisticated subgenre of contemporary R&B named after Smokey Robinson’s seminal 1975 album and a subsequent late-night radio format. It is characterized by its smooth, understated instrumentation, typically featuring lush synthesizers, electric pianos, subtle percussion, and mellow saxophone solos that create an atmosphere of intimacy and romance. The genre maintains a relaxed, slow-to-mid-tempo pace, often ranging between 60 and 90 beats per minute, which prioritizes a sensual and polished aesthetic over aggressive rhythmic complexity. As a bridge between smooth soul, jazz fusion, and adult contemporary, it emphasizes high-quality production and emotive, melodic vocal performances designed for late-night listening and mature audiences.
