Scottish Folk-concerten en liveshows in Berlin

Scottish folk music encompasses a rich tapestry of traditional sounds originating from the historical oral traditions of the Gaelic and Scots-speaking populations. Its distinctive instrumentation often features the Great Highland bagpipes, fiddle, clàrsach, and accordion, which drive a variety of rhythmic forms ranging from melancholic slow airs to spirited dance tunes like reels and strathspeys. The genre is characterized by a unique blend of mournful nostalgia and infectious energy, deeply rooted in the social history and landscape of Scotland. While sharing Celtic lineages with Irish folk, it maintains a distinct identity through its specific ornamentation and linguistic ties, eventually influencing the development of Appalachian and country music in North America.
