Slacker Rock-concerten en liveshows in Berlin

Slacker rock emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s within the American underground indie scene, characterized by a relaxed, often indifferent attitude and a rejection of high-production standards. Defined by foundational artists like Pavement and Sebadoh, the genre typically features jangly or distorted electric guitars, loose drumming, and nonchalant, conversational vocal deliveries. Its rhythmic structure is often mid-tempo and purposefully unpolished, creating a laid-back, ironic mood that distinguishes it from the angst-driven intensity of grunge. Semantically, it exists at the intersection of indie rock and lo-fi, prioritizing authenticity and a slacker aesthetic over technical precision or mainstream commercial polish.
