Slowcore-events deze week in Berlin

Slowcore emerged in the late 1980s as a subdued reaction to the overwhelming volume of alternative rock, pioneered by influential bands such as Low and Codeine. The genre is characterized by its exceptionally slow tempos, minimalist instrumentation featuring clean electric guitars, and hushed, often mournful vocal delivery that emphasizes lyrical intimacy. Melancholic and introspective in mood, it prioritizes the use of space and silence over traditional rock aggression, creating a somber, atmospheric experience for the listener. While closely linked to indie rock and post-rock, slowcore remains distinct through its glacial pacing and intentional restraint, often overlapping with the aesthetic known as sadcore to describe its profound emotional weight.
