Synthwave-events in Berlin

Emerging in the early to mid-2000s, synthwave is a nostalgic electronic genre that draws heavy inspiration from 1980s action film soundtracks, video game scores, and pop culture aesthetics. The sound is characterized by the prominent use of vintage analog synthesizers, gated reverb percussion, and classic drum machines like the LinnDrum to create a distinctively retro-futuristic atmosphere. Typically maintaining moderate tempos between 80 and 140 BPM, the genre often features driving four-on-the-floor rhythms or syncopated basslines that evoke a sense of cinematic momentum. While it remains structurally linked to synth-pop and electronic music, its focus on neon-soaked escapism and melancholic yet triumphant melodies distinguishes it from more aggressive or purely dance-oriented styles.
