Turkish Rock-events deze week in Berlin

Turkish rock, also known as Anatolian rock, emerged in the mid-1960s as a vibrant fusion of Western rock and roll with traditional Turkish folk music. This genre typically features a unique blend of modern instrumentation like electric guitars and synthesizers alongside traditional Anatolian instruments such as the saz, ney, and zurna. Characterized by its use of complex rhythmic structures and traditional maqam-based melodies, the music often oscillates between psychedelic experimentation and powerful social commentary. It maintains a distinct semantic link to both global psychedelic rock and regional folk traditions, creating a bridge between Eastern melodic sensibilities and Western backbeat-driven energy that continues to define Turkey's modern musical identity.
