Dub Reggae-events in Bordeaux

Emerging from late 1960s Jamaica, dub reggae evolved as a studio-based subgenre of reggae that prioritizes the 'riddim' through the creative manipulation of existing recordings. Typically characterized by stripped-back vocal tracks, it emphasizes deep, heavy basslines and syncopated drum patterns enhanced by echoing delay and cavernous reverb effects. The genre’s mood is inherently hypnotic and spacious, often slowing the tempo to create a psychedelic atmosphere that treats the mixing desk as a primary instrument. Structurally related to roots reggae, dub’s minimalist and experimental approach laid the foundational sonic architecture for contemporary electronic styles like jungle, trip hop, and modern bass music.
