Contemporary R&B-events in Brussel

Contemporary R&B emerged in the late 1970s following the disco era, evolving from traditional rhythm and blues by incorporating elements of soul, funk, and electronic music. Characterized by polished record production, the genre typically features drum machine rhythms—often utilizing the Roland TR-808—lush synthesizers, and smooth, melismatic vocal performances. Its rhythm is defined by a syncopated, mid-tempo groove that creates a sophisticated and often sensual atmosphere, distinguishing it from the raw grit of its predecessors. Serving as a bridge between hip hop and pop, contemporary R&B maintains a dominant presence in mainstream charts through its seamless integration of urban beats and melodic song structures.
