Romanian Rap-events deze week in Boekarest

Romanian rap emerged in the early 1990s after the fall of communism, drawing initial inspiration from American East Coast boom-bap and gangsta rap. The genre typically features sampled breaks, TR-808 drum patterns, and synthesizers, often incorporating melodic elements from traditional Romanian folk music to create a distinct regional identity. With tempos ranging from 80 to 100 BPM, the rhythmic structure is defined by heavy kicks and sharp snares, supporting lyrics that address socio-economic struggles and urban life. As a localized evolution of global hip hop, it maintains a gritty, authentic mood while bridging the gap between underground activism and contemporary mainstream trap.
