Romanian Folk-concerten en liveshows in Cluj-Napoca

Romanian folk music, known as Muzică populară, originated in the rural agrarian communities of Wallachia, Moldavia, and Transylvania, featuring a diverse instrumental palette including the accordion, pan flute, violin, and the hammered dulcimer known as the țambal. Rhythmic structures are often complex and energetic, characterized by syncopation and asymmetrical meters found in traditional circle dances like the horă and sârbă. While the soulful, improvised doină evokes a melancholic and reflective mood, the genre is generally defined by its communal spirit and deep historical roots in Balkan and Roma traditions. This genre serves as the foundational core for modern ethno-pop and remains a primary expression of national cultural identity.
