G Funk-events in Fort Lauderdale

Emerging from Los Angeles in the early 1990s, G-Funk is a subgenre of West Coast hip hop characterized by heavy reliance on 1970s P-Funk samples and melodic, high-pitched Moog synthesizer leads. The instrumentation typically features deep, undulating basslines and slow, hypnotic grooves that maintain a relaxed mid-tempo pace, usually ranging between 80 and 100 beats per minute. Its mood is distinctively laid-back and atmospheric, often juxtaposing hedonistic themes with a sun-drenched, cinematic soundscape. As a stylistic evolution of gangsta rap, G-Funk bridges the gap between aggressive lyrical content and smooth, soul-infused production, profoundly influencing the sonic identity of the West Coast rap scene.
