Math Rock-events deze maand in Hamburg

Math rock is a complex subgenre of indie and progressive rock that emerged in the late 1980s, primarily within the United States underground scene. It is defined by its use of atypical, non-standard time signatures such as 7/8 or 13/8 and intricate, often clean-toned guitar tapping techniques accompanied by highly syncopated drumming. The genre's mood is predominantly cerebral and intellectually stimulating, characterized by sudden stop-start dynamics and polyrhythmic interplay that challenges traditional Western pop structures. Semantically situated between post-hardcore and progressive rock, it maintains a technical rigor that distinguishes it from the atmospheric textures of post-rock while influencing the rhythmic foundations of modern midwest emo.
