Symphonic Metal-concerten en liveshows in Ioannina

Symphonic metal is a subgenre of heavy metal that emerged in the mid-1990s, characterized by the fusion of aggressive metal elements with the grandiose arrangements of classical orchestral music. It typically features a standard metal rhythm section alongside a full orchestra or synthesizers, often highlighting operatic or 'beauty and the beast' style vocals. The music is defined by its cinematic scope, utilizing dramatic tempo shifts and complex structures that evoke an epic, ethereal, and sometimes melancholic atmosphere. Closely related to power and gothic metal, the genre prioritizes melodic complexity and theatrical performance, establishing a bridge between contemporary extreme music and traditional symphonic traditions through its high-fidelity production and sophisticated compositions.
