Dainuojamoji Poezija-events in Kaunas

Originating in mid-20th century Lithuania, dainuojamoji poezija is a performance-based genre that prioritizes the delivery of high-quality literary texts over complex musical structures. Typically featuring a solo performer accompanied by an acoustic guitar or piano, the genre emphasizes an intimate and philosophical mood, often rooted in folk traditions and the global bardic movement. Its rhythm is generally flexible or rubato, allowing the emotional weight of the lyrics to dictate the tempo and phrasing, which creates a deep connection between the artist and the audience. This genre serves as a cultural bridge between traditional folk song and modern acoustic pop, maintaining a high level of vocal prominence and organic instrumentation.
