Celtic Punk-events deze maand in Kraków

Celtic punk emerged in the late 1970s as a high-energy fusion of punk rock's aggressive ethos and the traditional melodic structures of Irish and Scottish folk music. Pioneered by bands like The Pogues, the genre typically utilizes a blend of standard rock instrumentation, such as electric guitars and drums, with acoustic folk instruments including the tin whistle, fiddle, accordion, and bagpipes. Its rhythmic foundation often mirrors the driving pace of hardcore punk while incorporating the syncopated flourishes of traditional jigs and reels, creating a rowdy and anthemic mood. Semantically, it functions as a bridge between the rebellious DIY spirit of punk and the heritage-driven storytelling of folk, maintaining a distinct presence within the broader alternative rock landscape.
