Atmospheric Dnb-events in London

Atmospheric drum and bass, also known as intelligent drum and bass, emerged in the mid-1990s as a sophisticated evolution of the UK breakbeat and jungle scenes. This genre is defined by the juxtaposition of complex, high-tempo breakbeats and deep sub-bass against lush, ethereal synthesizer pads, jazz-influenced samples, and ambient textures. While maintaining the kinetic energy of standard drum and bass, its mood is distinctly introspective and spatial, often evoking a sense of weightlessness or urban melancholia. It serves as a bridge between high-octane dance music and cerebral ambient soundscapes, emphasizing sonic depth and melodic fluidity over the aggressive, distorted textures common in harder sub-genres like techstep or neurofunk.
