Indie R&B-events in London

Indie R&B emerged in the late 2000s as a progressive departure from mainstream contemporary R&B, blending soul sensibilities with electronic, indie rock, and hip-hop influences. This genre is defined by its atmospheric production, typically featuring reverb-heavy synthesizers, syncopated drum machine patterns, and processed vocal layers that create a moody, introspective aesthetic. While maintaining the emotive focus of traditional rhythm and blues, it embraces experimental structures and a digital sheen that distinguishes it from polished radio pop. Semantically linked to alternative R&B, the genre often favors mid-tempo grooves and unconventional melodies, bridging the gap between underground DIY experimentation and mainstream soul music.
