Mod Revival-events in London

Emerging in the late 1970s United Kingdom, mod revival was a high-energy subculture movement that revitalized the aesthetics and sounds of the 1960s mod scene. The genre is characterized by driving 4/4 rhythms, sharp guitar hooks, and a blend of power pop energy with the melodic sensibilities of Northern Soul and 1960s beat music. Typical instrumentation focuses on electric guitars, bass, and drums, often delivered with a polished yet punchy production style that reflects a balance between punk’s urgency and pop’s accessibility. Semantically, it serves as a nostalgic bridge between traditional British rhythm and blues and the burgeoning New Wave movement, emphasizing tailored fashion and a distinct urban British identity.
