Skate Punk-events in London

Skate punk originated in the late 1970s and early 1980s across California as a high-energy fusion of hardcore punk’s speed and surf culture’s laid-back intensity. The genre is characterized by fast, technical drumming featuring rapid-fire double-time beats, distorted power chords, and surprisingly melodic vocal harmonies that differentiate it from its more abrasive punk predecessors. Often associated with skateboarding subculture, its mood is typically rebellious yet upbeat, bridging the gap between underground hardcore and the commercial pop-punk explosion of the 1990s. Instrumentation relies heavily on the classic power trio or quartet setup of electric guitars, bass, and drums, maintaining a relentless tempo that emphasizes athletic movement and youthful defiance.
