Thai Rock-concerten en liveshows in London

Thai rock emerged in the late 1960s, heavily influenced by Western rock and roll brought by American soldiers stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. This genre evolved from early string bands into a diverse spectrum encompassing heavy metal, alternative rock, and the socially conscious "Phleng Phuea Chiwit" movement. Standard instrumentation typically features electric guitars, bass, and drums, often utilizing pentatonic scales and melodic structures that reflect traditional Thai vocal phrasing. While it maintains a strong rhythmic foundation in common time, the genre is characterized by its wide emotional range, transitioning from high-intensity stadium anthems to sentimental power ballads that dominate the domestic mainstream music industry.
