Musicals-events in Los Angeles

Musicals, also known as musical theatre, originated from the fusion of 19th-century operetta, vaudeville, and comic opera, solidifying into a distinct theatrical form in the early 20th century. The genre is characterized by a dramatic narrative where songs, spoken dialogue, and dance are integrated to advance the plot or develop characters. Typical instrumentation involves a pit orchestra or ensemble featuring strings, brass, and woodwinds, often supplemented by keyboards and percussion to mirror changing emotional beats. Rhythms and tempos vary significantly to suit the storytelling needs, ranging from sweeping ballads to high-energy choreographed numbers while maintaining a close semantic relationship with pop and classical music.
