Sierreño-events dit weekend in Los Angeles

Sierreño is a subgenre of Regional Mexican music originating from the mountainous regions of Mexico, particularly Sonora, Sinaloa, and Baja California. Characterized by its acoustic instrumentation, primarily featuring a requinto (a smaller 12-string guitar), acoustic guitar, and acoustic bass, it often maintains a raw, intimate sound. Tempos range from moderate to lively, supporting narratives that frequently explore themes of love, heartbreak, everyday life, and sometimes corridos (narrative ballads). Its distinctive sound is less reliant on accordion or brass, setting it apart from more traditional norteño or banda, offering a more stripped-down, melancholic yet often danceable feel.
