Synthesizer-events in Los Angeles

Synthesizer music is a diverse genre characterized by the primary use of electronic instruments that generate sound via oscillators, filters, and envelope generators. Emerging from mid-20th-century avant-garde experimentation, it flourished during the 1970s with the commercial availability of hardware from manufacturers like Moog and Roland. The genre encompasses a wide spectrum of tempos and rhythmic structures, ranging from expansive, beatless ambient soundscapes to driving, highly-sequenced percussive patterns found in contemporary electronic styles. Its mood typically conveys a futuristic or technological aesthetic, often blending cold digital precision with warm analog textures, and it serves as the essential sonic backbone for derivative genres such as synth-pop, new wave, and ambient electronic music.
