West Coast Hip Hop-events deze maand in Los Angeles

West Coast hip hop emerged from the California urban landscape in the early 1980s, evolving from electro-funk origins into a dominant regional subgenre defined by its deep relationship with P-Funk. Characterized by melodic synthesizers, heavy basslines, and a distinctively laid-back tempo ranging from 80 to 100 BPM, the style prioritizes a smooth, "G-Funk" groove over the aggressive percussion of its East Coast counterparts. The instrumentation often features Moog leads and live-sounding drum arrangements that create a mood oscillating between relaxed hedonism and gritty social realism. This genre bridged the gap between underground protest music and mainstream commercial success, fundamentally shaping the sonic identity of global rap through its cinematic production values and funk-inflected structures.
