Arabic Hip Hop-events deze maand in Madrid

Arabic hip hop emerged in the late 1990s as a powerful fusion of American urban culture and Middle Eastern musical traditions, primarily rooted in the Levant and North Africa. The genre's instrumentation blends standard electronic beat-making and sampling with traditional regional sounds from instruments like the oud, darbouka, and kanun. Rhythmically, it utilizes standard 4/4 hip hop tempos, often between 80 and 100 BPM, while integrating complex melodic maqam scales and poetic lyricism across diverse Arabic dialects. Usually characterized by a defiant and socially conscious mood, it acts as a cultural bridge between global hip hop and local folk influences like Shaabi and Mahraganat.
