Brit Funk-events deze week in Madrid

Emerging in the late 1970s and early 1980s as a distinctively UK-centric evolution of American jazz-funk, Brit Funk blended high-energy grooves with a raw, post-punk sensibility. The genre is characterized by prominent slap-bass lines, syncopated drum patterns, sophisticated horn arrangements, and the occasional use of synthesizers, resulting in a sophisticated yet gritty dancefloor-oriented sound. Typically maintaining a moderate to fast tempo, its mood is inherently uplifting and vibrant, reflecting a fusion of underground club culture and soulful musicality. It served as a critical precursor to the acid jazz and UK garage movements by bridging the gap between traditional soul and the emerging electronic dance scene.
