Chamamé-events in Madrid

Chamamé is a traditional folk music genre originating from the northeastern region of Argentina, particularly Corrientes province, deeply influenced by Guaraní culture and Jesuit missionary history. Characterized by a moderate to upbeat tempo in a compound duple meter, it typically features the accordion and acoustic guitar as core instrumentation, often accompanied by poetic Spanish and Guaraní lyrics. The mood ranges from nostalgic and melancholic to jubilant and danceable, capturing the rural spirit of the Argentine Littoral. Semantically related to other South American folk styles like polca paraguaya and chamamé shares deep historical roots with wider regional folk traditions.
