Pinoy Rock-events deze maand in Madrid

Emerging in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Pinoy rock is a vibrant fusion of Western rock and roll with Filipino cultural sensibilities, famously pioneered by artists like the Juan de la Cruz Band. Typical instrumentation revolves around electric guitars, bass, and drums, often utilizing Tagalog or Taglish lyrics to address social issues, national identity, and romantic themes. The rhythm typically follows standard 4/4 time with tempos spanning from soulful, slow-burning power ballads to aggressive, up-tempo anthems that highlight the genre's traditionally rebellious spirit. As a central pillar of Original Pilipino Music, it serves as a semantic bridge between psychedelic rock and the modern alternative Filipino scene, maintaining a gritty yet melodic identity.
