Popular Colombian Music-events vanavond in Madrid

Popular Colombian music, frequently identified as Música Popular, originated in the mid-20th century in the Andean departments, heavily influenced by Mexican rancheras and Ecuadorian pasillos. The instrumentation is primarily acoustic, centering on guitars, vihuela, and accordion, which provide a rhythmic foundation for themes of heartbreak, rural life, and romantic betrayal. Its tempo varies from sentimental 3/4 waltzes to upbeat 2/4 rhythms, consistently maintaining a passionate and melancholic mood known as despecho. Semantically, the genre serves as a localized evolution of the regional Mexican style, uniquely adapted to the Colombian cultural landscape and predominantly catering to the working-class demographic.
