Swedish Stoner Rock-events deze week in Madrid

Swedish stoner rock is a regional derivative of the stoner rock movement that emerged in the mid-to-late 1990s, characterized by a heavy fusion of psychedelic rock, blues, and doom metal. Typical instrumentation features down-tuned electric guitars played through vintage tube amplifiers, creating a fuzzy, saturated wall of sound complemented by prominent, driving basslines and powerful, swinging drum patterns. The tempo generally remains in the mid-range, fostering a hypnotic and gritty mood that balances raw intensity with melodic accessibility. Semantically, it acts as a bridge between 1970s hard rock and modern alternative metal, distinguishing itself from its American desert rock counterparts through a unique emphasis on Scandinavian melodic sensibilities and retro-production values.
