Classic Soul-events in Miami

Emerging in the late 1950s and 1960s in the United States, classic soul fused rhythm and blues with gospel and jazz elements. Typical arrangements feature a rhythmic foundation of drums and bass, complemented by brass sections, piano, Hammond organ, and emotive lead vocals. The genre often utilizes a 4/4 time signature with a strong emphasis on the backbeat, ranging from slow, passionate ballads to upbeat, syncopated dance numbers. Characterized by its raw emotional intensity and melodic sophistication, it served as the secular evolution of church music and laid the essential groundwork for funk and contemporary R&B.
