Rockabilly-events deze maand in New York City

Emerging from the Southern United States in the early 1950s, rockabilly represents a high-energy fusion of country music, Western swing, and rhythm and blues. The genre is characterized by its sparse yet driving instrumentation, typically featuring a twangy electric guitar, an acoustic rhythm guitar, and a percussive upright slap bass, often enhanced by a distinctive slapback echo effect. Its rhythmic foundation relies on a frantic, uptempo boogie-woogie beat that creates a rebellious and raw emotional atmosphere. As a crucial evolutionary precursor to classic rock and roll, rockabilly blends the rural 'hillbilly' sound with urban blues influences, establishing a bridge between traditional folk structures and modern pop sensibilities.
