Smooth Jazz-concerten en liveshows in New York City

Smooth jazz emerged in the late 1960s and 1970s as a commercialized derivative of jazz fusion, blending jazz elements with pop, R&B, and funk. Characterized by its polished production and melodic focus, the genre typically features instrumentation such as the soprano saxophone, electric guitar, and synthesizers set against steady, mid-tempo grooves. It prioritizes accessible hooks and a relaxed, sophisticated atmosphere over the complex improvisation found in traditional jazz, often overlapping with the Adult Contemporary radio format. This genre functions as a bridge between technical musicianship and easy-listening sensibilities, providing a soothing, high-fidelity auditory experience suitable for background or lifestyle-oriented consumption environments.
