Irish Hip Hop-events deze week in Parijs

Irish hip hop, often termed Irish rap, traces its roots to the late 1980s, gaining significant momentum in the 2010s with the rise of regional accents and distinct local narratives. The genre typically employs a blend of traditional boom-bap or modern trap production, occasionally integrating acoustic elements like the bodhrán or fiddle alongside digital samplers and synthesizers. Characterized by syncopated rhythms and moderate tempos ranging from 85 to 105 BPM, the mood often fluctuates between gritty social commentary and playful, local wit. Semantically, it functions as a regional branch of the broader hip-hop movement, sharing a symbiotic relationship with UK grime while maintaining a unique identity through Hiberno-English lyricism and cultural references.
