Piedmont Blues-concerten en liveshows in Parijs

Originating in the Southeast United States during the early 20th century, Piedmont blues is distinguished by its intricate fingerstyle guitar technique that mimics the syncopated rhythms of ragtime piano. Unlike the heavy, slide-driven sounds of the Mississippi Delta, this genre features a melodic alternating thumb bassline and a light, bouncy tempo that creates a jaunty and optimistic mood. Typical instrumentation centers on the acoustic guitar, often accompanied by harmonica or washboard, reflecting a rich synthesis of Appalachian folk, country string bands, and African American spirituals. Its unique approach to rhythm and melody establishes it as a sophisticated acoustic predecessor to modern folk and fingerpicking traditions, bridging rural traditions with urban ragtime sensibilities.
