Portsmouth Indie-events in Parijs

Portsmouth indie is a regional sub-genre of British independent rock originating from the coastal city of Portsmouth, England. Characterized by its reliance on traditional guitar-driven instrumentation including melodic electric riffs, steady basslines, and punchy percussion, the genre often captures the maritime and industrial atmosphere of its South Coast home. The music typically features mid-to-fast tempos and a mood that oscillates between upbeat anthemic energy and introspective melancholy. Semantically, it occupies a specific niche within the broader UK indie scene, bridging the gap between jangly C86 influences and more modern alternative rock, while maintaining a strong local identity rooted in the city's vibrant grassroots venues.
