Screamo-events dit weekend in Parijs

Screamo emerged in the early 1990s within the San Diego hardcore punk scene, evolving as a more aggressive and dissonant expansion of emo. The genre is characterized by its signature high-pitched screamed vocals, intricate dual-guitar melodies, and rapid-fire drumming that often incorporates chaotic tempo shifts and dynamic loud-quiet structures. Musically, it bridges the gap between post-hardcore's structure and the visceral intensity of powerviolence, frequently conveying themes of intense emotional distress and existential catharsis. While it shares deep roots with melodic hardcore, its heavy reliance on dissonance and non-linear songwriting specifically distinguishes it from the more mainstream or commercial emo iterations of the following decade.
