Czech Jazz-concerten en liveshows in Praag

Czech jazz is a distinct regional evolution of the jazz tradition that traces its roots back to the vibrant cultural scene of interwar Czechoslovakia before developing a unique character during the socialist era. Characterized by a sophisticated blend of traditional American swing, Central European folk melodies, and experimental avant-garde structures, it typically employs standard jazz instrumentation like the piano, double bass, and saxophone. The genre's rhythm varies from steady swing to intricate, odd-meter explorations, often conveying a mood that oscillates between intellectual rigor and a characteristic Slavic lyricism. It maintains a strong semantic relationship with European chamber jazz and Third Stream, reflecting a high degree of technical proficiency and cross-pollination with classical music traditions.
