Ska Jazz-concerten en liveshows in Praag

Ska jazz is a fusion genre that emerged in Jamaica during the late 1950s and early 1960s, primarily through the pioneering efforts of the Skatalites. It integrates the upbeat, syncopated rhythms of traditional ska with the sophisticated improvisational techniques and harmonic structures characteristic of American jazz. The instrumentation typically features a prominent brass section including trumpet and saxophone, supported by a walking bassline and rhythmic electric guitar offbeats. With its energetic yet musically complex mood, ska jazz occupies a unique semantic space between danceable Caribbean styles and intellectual jazz performance. It bridges the gap between raw folk-inflected ska and the later, slower developments of rocksteady and reggae.
