Alternative Dance-events in Rotterdam

Alternative dance emerged in the late 1980s as a hybrid genre blending the melodic sensibilities and instrumentation of indie rock with the rhythmic structures of electronic dance music. Characterized by a fusion of live drums and guitars with synthesizers and sequencers, it typically maintains a driving 4/4 beat at moderate to fast tempos ranging from 110 to 130 BPM. The mood is often described as edgy and hypnotic, providing a sophisticated bridge between underground club culture and mainstream rock sensibilities. This genre played a crucial role in the development of indietronica and electronic rock, evolving from the Madchester scene to define a post-punk approach to the dance floor.
