Ambient Folk-concerten en liveshows in Rotterdam

Ambient folk is a contemporary fusion genre that synthesizes the acoustic storytelling and organic instrumentation of traditional folk with the atmospheric, textural depth of ambient music. Originating from the experimental folk scenes of the late 20th century, the genre typically features delicate fingerpicked guitars, pianos, or strings bathed in expansive reverb and layered with electronic pads or field recordings. Rhythmic structures are often loose and rubato, prioritizing a contemplative, ethereal mood over traditional verse-chorus forms or driving beats. This genre acts as a bridge between the intimate vulnerability of indie folk and the immersive, spatial explorations of electronic minimalism, creating a soundscape that feels both grounded and otherworldly.
