Bedroom Pop-events in Rotterdam

Bedroom pop emerged in the late 2010s as a DIY-oriented subgenre of indie pop, primarily characterized by its intimate home-recording aesthetic and unpolished lo-fi production values. Utilizing accessible digital technology like MIDI controllers, drum machines, and basic audio interfaces, artists craft hazy soundscapes featuring hushed, conversational vocals and nostalgic, reverb-drenched synthesizer melodies. The genre typically maintains a moderate to slow tempo with relaxed, steady rhythms that evoke a profound sense of emotional vulnerability and domestic solitude. While closely related to dream pop and lo-fi indie, bedroom pop is distinct for its deliberate amateur-leaning "outsider" charm and its heavy reliance on social media and internet-based distribution platforms.
