Belgian Jazz-concerten en liveshows in Rotterdam

Belgian jazz represents a sophisticated regional evolution of the jazz tradition, rooted in the early 20th-century contributions of Adolphe Sax and the influential Gypsy jazz style of Django Reinhardt. The instrumentation typically centers on the saxophone, double bass, and piano, often incorporating eclectic European folk elements that distinguish it from its American counterparts. Rhythmic structures vary from the swinging cadences of traditional bebop to experimental, avant-garde timings, usually maintaining a moderate tempo that balances technical precision with emotional depth. This genre acts as a vital bridge between standard continental jazz and modern improvisational music, characterized by a refined, cerebral mood that highlights Belgium’s long-standing conservatory excellence and artistic innovation.
